Ancient Nexus Empire Map by CrystalNexus Ancient Nexus Empire Map by CrystalNexus
A map showing the span of the Nex empire many million years ago before the scouring.

The Nex evolved a few million years ago in one of Ancerious's calm periods, not much happened in the galaxy at the time apart from the rise and fall of a few unknown empires lost to time. It was billions of years since the apocalypitic war between the Flux and the Nakai, by this time the Nakai had long since left and the Flux had been left as a shadow of its former self, now dedicated to keeping an even more watchful eye on the galaxy. The Nex evolved from the native crystal on their homeworld of Nexus as they came to name it. After a few large scale civil wars one group game to the top and decided to explore their home galaxy. Initial progress was slow and centuries passed as the Nex tried to go to new systems at sublight speeds. this was nothing normal just another empire in Ancerious who would appear then be lost in the infinite void. However the Nex rapidly advaned when they developed FTL drives, using their advanced crystal and new technology they quickly spread and established a rather large empire in the northern area of the galaxy. they met, traded and made alliances and enemies with numerous other ancient races and the Nex saw themselves as kind and gentle explorers. The Nex were not that dedicated to war and so when the scouring occured, the Nex had lost half their empire before they even knew what was happening. An unknown race lost to the annals of time came out of nowhere and using unknown technology and powerful weapons swept aside all resistance, before long the Nex were faced with the prospect of extinction and so an plan was put in place to make ark worlds where the last of the Nex population would hide as well some small military assets to protect them. then using their knowledge of their crystal they were hidden away to sleep away the eons until the danger had passed. These worlds would then due to the passage of time rebuild over the ark worlds and new life and areas would flourish and once again the Nex were forgotten. Until an Expidition one day revealed and activated Nexus's defsense system and the Nex were awoken to a galaxy filled with life, and very varied powerful nations. At this they immediately made alliances and have now send forces to awaken all those old arkworlds but alas the galaxies maps of changed and some may be lost forever.

This can't be Ancerious canon as Nex would have encountered the Sicarii

the Sicarii dont own all of ancerious, plenty of empires have risen and fallen. The Sicarii have only a minor area yet galactic influence. wouldnt stop ancient races from becoming powerful.

there would of been no need to stop the Nex, besides they were destroyed by the Unnamed Empire anyway.

And if not the Flux would of destroyed them as part of their cycles
